I have a bit of a problem with the weight that is printed on the title of my 2005 Impala LS. I live in New York State, a they claim that my car weighs 3,600 lbs. (rounded to the nearest 50 lbs.) According the GM, since I asked them through an email, my vehicle weighs 3,476 lbs. Does anybody else have this problem?

Dont see it as a problem, 100 lbs isnt really gonna make a huge difference when it comes to registering. The car will change weight as you add gas, cargo, passengers.

I don't know how it works in NY. Does your registration fee depend on your vehicle's weight?

sure does! And that's why New York is the Cesspool State WinkI am sure you have heard our slogan "There isn't a fee, tax or fine we didn't invent"

Nevada bases it on MSPR - They have a web app that estimates your registration costs... I just bought a 9c1 today

2004 Impala
Basic Registration Fee: $33
Governmental Services Tax: $168
Supplemental Gov. Services Tax: $42
Motor Safety Fee: n/a
Total Estimated Registration Fees: $243
