This may have already been answered but ive been all over this forum and tried many searches in many ways..

Are the sway bars on Impalas different diameters based on trim level (ie BASE, LS, SS) ?? If so, are they interchangeable?

Sorry if this is a repost.

IIRC the Base and LS share the same sway bars. The SS sway bars are the same as the GMPPs. You can get them from ZZPs website. Or PM ZSPOT, he might be able to cut you a deal.

They're not SS wheels. They're SLP 16" 5 spokes. They look to have the hyperblack finish too.

The website used to list them as hyper black. They're not on the site anymore since it was a clearance wheel.

Each model has different sway bars, so there are 3 separate sets, with the SS sharing the same sway bars and 9C1/6 police vehicles and the GMPP sway bar kit. They are completely interchangeable, but doubt anybody would want to go to a lower trim level Laughing

When I put the gmpp sways in, I found that the gmpps were not much bigger than my stock sways. After research I heard that the ls has the smallest sway bars, base model next, then 9cs/ss/gmpp.

The GMPP handling kit (sways, trailing arms and strut tower braces) are a worthwhile handling upgrade. cornering performance is greatly improved over the stock base (FE3 iirc) suspension, without sacrificing ride quality.

Nope, base models have the softer "Soft Ride" FE1 suspension, LS and likely LS Sport have the "Sport" FE2 or FE3 suspensions, the SS may be FE4 but will share the sway bars with the 9C1/9C6 Heavy Duty 7B3 suspension.

There are IIRC 3 different sets of sway bars for the Impala, which do not correlate to the sway bar numbers used on the Regal and GP.

There are also at least 4 GM spring sets for the Impala. Laughing

Scott, a 1 or 2mm difference in the diameter of the sway bar is quite a large increase in the surface area on the cross section on the sway bar if you were to cut it. There doesnt need to be a drastic change in order to provide significant benefits.

That's what I always thought too, untill I double checked one day. Kinda figured it was a misprint, but it's still listed as such.

FE1 = 32mm
FE2, FE3 = 30mm
FE4, 9C1 = 34mm
