I will make this my last post and vent off some steam. My first and
last GM car will be traded off this Friday. I wish I could say it has
been a nice 9 years, but it is a bitter ending.

To any and all current and future GM owners, I leave you with the
following reasons GM will never recover:

DEXCOOL, known as DeathCool: upper and lower intake gaskets cost
$1,600 to replace. Don't let any dealer talk you into putting
DeathCool back into your car!

ISS, the Intermediate Steering Shaft has a life of about 30K miles.
Budget $260 for replacement here and rememebr to replace it often.

BCM, PCM, and Passlock: this overdesigned, unrelaible system has the
complexity of the NASA SpaceShuttle launch control systems, and costs
about the same to repair. You could spend $4,000 here and still have a
car that won't start due to random anti theft codes.

I would hope that GM could get comissions as Toyota's best saleman,
but I guess we taxpayers will just continue to bail them out.

Adios GM.

I'd actually be more pissed at your dealer because it seems like they were ripping you off on repair costs.

Or the incompetent technicians who throw parts at a problem without diagnosing it.

Also, dexcool is not, was not and will never be the cause of the problems with the UIM/LIM gaskets. The problem is poorly engineered gaskets.

The ISS noise is also remedied with a lube job. Been doing mine every 10k since 70k miles and it's good as new.

Goodbye! We don't need people who exagerate costs and are very misinformed.

Dexcool doesn't kill anything except faulty nylon gaskets. I've got dexcool in my 3400 and it has 105,000 miles on it.

I had my bcm replaced back in february this year. It cost me a whopping 400 bucks.

Don't bitch about the car when your problem is poor maintenance and crappy service.

If he has a problem with the cost of repairs on a GM vehicle all I can say is GOOD LUCK with parts and labor costs on imports! Laughing

Sorry but the parts for the Suby haven't been any more expensive and it is a much easier engine to work on compared to the 3400.

I think the original post is a complete joke and just shows the ignorance of the poster but everyone just has this idea that imports are always so expensive to fix, might be the case with Audi or BMW but not just across the board on all imports.
