I finally have enough money to start working on my car, I've been running my factory Integrity all-seasons for about 41k miles and they're as bald as Mr. Clean. So I picked up 4 Goodyear Nordics as well as factory-fit steelies to go with it (I've wanted steelies since I bought the car). Ran me $121 CAD a tire, came out to $850 with everything. I looked at the other major players (Michelin X-Ice 2, Dunlop Graspic D3, etc.) but every other quote I got was pushing a grand with tires and installation.
If you live in Canada and you want winter tires, drive down to your local Canadian Tire and buy a set. They cost a huge chunk less and they're as good, if not better than any of the other brands. They rip s**t up when it comes to wet pavement, packed snow, deep snow, anything you can throw at it (I've even tested it out in deep wet mud - the weather is different everyday up here). Noise isn't a problem for me, but other reviews say otherwise. Out of ~150 reviews (both from the store and independant) I found about 7 negative ones.
Take a look here:
These were taken at/near my mom's house up in Eriksdale, MB
First person who tells me to wash my car gets a smack, it's a stat holiday today and I'm in the middle of Interlake Manitoba.
I want to post them directly with IMG tags but I haven't the patience to figure Flickr out.
Comments are welcome, including Wede and Helldo. Just not LittleRock.
Things to come in the near future:
- New front brakes (rotors are warped, could use new pads
- Double DIN in-dash HU, amp, (stock radio must be turned up 75% to hear anything)
- New summer tires
- Rear spoiler delete (will probably trade somebody for a white trunklid w/o spoiler)
- Brushed steel dash/door trim
