thankfully my car was spared, unfortunately my sister and step-dads cars were not. My sister took these pictures, I'll get some better ones when I can but my camera is dead
step dads 2000 Escort ZX2 (this car has seen better days, waiting for it to die before gets another car. he's not picky about his car)
bumper/fender/taillight damage on his
My sister's got the worst of it. She has a 2009 Toyota Yaris that she got to replace her 2008 Yaris that was totaled in a rollover accident. Her car got hit at work back in July by a hit and run driver and she had to pay to get it fixed (i think the bumper cover was the only thing damaged, and was less than 500 deductible) . Right now the car isn't driveable because the fender is bent onto the tire
The front and rear bumpers, front and rear fenders, both doors, etc:
crease in the back door, can't really see it but its the dark blue part
I feel bad being happy my car didn't get hit, because both of theirs did!
Also weird, my mom was parked just across the street and I was parked in front of the Escort. Escort was parked on left side of driveway, Yaris on right side of driveway.
I have a question though, would we be able to sue the city for this? My sisters car is usually in the driveway but on friday the city of San Antonio came and ripped out the entrance to our driveway to re-pour it (had a water main leak about a month or so ago) but then left it dug out still, probably going to work on it again tomorrow. There was no need to come out on a friday and dig it up, knowing they wouldnt be able to re-pour until at earliest monday. And we live on a main road in the neighborhood, 30 mph zone.
moms car is the Explorer across the street
My car is usually parked at the end of those bushes by the far driveway, the zx2 parked by our driveway, and the Yaris last night was parked where I'm standing for that picture.
Think it's worth our time? And I mowed the lawn after this picture was taken
The city fixed the water line over a month ago, and filled the hole with dirt. We were able to use our driveway for the last month. Friday they came and dug it up and laid re-bar (incorrectly, might I add. They have to come re-do it) and then left it un-accessible for the weekend. That's our gripe.
Honestly, selfish me is happy that my sisters car was in the street and got hit first. Otherwise they would have plowed into my step-dads ZX2 and it would pushed his car into mine and that would have been much worse than the damage to the side of the Yaris. I'm sure it would have totaled the escort, and would have damaged the front of my car. Like I said, selfish me
k got some daylight pictures and our neighbor found a mirror that might belong to the car that did the hit and run (see see here )
Edit: This is hard to believe, but kinda funny!:
My step dad (black escort) got in his car and drove to the store. Came home, went inside. Didn't notice damage on either car. He walked around that corner of the car leaving the house, going into the store, coming out of the store, and going back into the house.
Sister came outside, got in blue Yaris (on the same side as all the damage...) and drove down our street until she heard a rubbing noise. Thinking she had a flat, she pulled over and noticed the damage.
I know I'm not the only one who looks at all 4 corners and both sides before I drive right???
