I'm starting to be able to feel every bump on the road on my car, rides fine on the highway though. 190k miles on it. What should I ask my mechanic to check? Bushings, strut tower mounts?

X2. If they have never been changed, they are probably far past due (the struts more so than the springs)

You guys know how much new struts will cost? I'm only planning on keeping the car for the winter.

Why not just deal with it for winter then? That's what I would do.

You are going to want to replace the struts and the mounts. The mounts (all four of them) will run you around 100 bucks. The struts will depend on which model you choose. A set of GR2s goes for 225ish and a set of AGXs goes for around 450 if you know where to look.

x2 on the wait. No sense in installing a brand new suspension just before the road salt, ice and pothole season.

Quick update.

I got my mechanic to check it out and make sure it was safe for the winter.

He just replaced the outer tierod ends for about $200. Steering feels tighter but the bumps are worse.

Oh well I guess I can cope.
