I joined about a month ago but never formally introduced myself.
A couple months ago I purchased a used 2009 LT with 32000 miles to replace my ailing 2003 Jaguar X-Type. It's been a great car so far with plenty of room for hauling the kids around. I'd say that the styling is a bit uninspired for this generation of Impala but it's quite comfortable and quick. The 3500 V6 has no problem getting out of its own way and gas mileage is fantastic for a car of this size. I'm averaging 26.8 MPG (much better than the Jag).
You went from a Jag to a Impala, and are pleased with the Impala, I reckon that should say alot for Impala's... and not alot for Jag's
It does speak a lot of the Impala. The X-Type is the entry level Jag and is much smaller and slower than the Impala.
I miss the allure of driving a Jaguar and some of the finer details in how it was appointed - more leather, real wood, etc. This winter, I'm sure I'll miss the AWD. People on the board complain about the Impala being front-driven but that's what sold it over the Crown Vic or Charger. I have to drive it in snow.
I won't miss the cost to repair. Oil pan gasket and intake manifold gasket cost me over $2000.
