In this article it states that the 2003 impala has a limp home mode??this is true?

Every vehicle has a failsafe mode where if it detects what it feels is a major issue it will cut almost all power in attempt to keep the engine from damaging itself.

Could be a bad sensor, or mechanical failure. But you'll know when it happens because the car is just barely driveable,

yup, I discovered that in my 02 when the cat went completly. I thought the tranny went. Managed to limp it to the dealer. Wasnt a fun ride.

I can also verify this being true. When my cat clogged, the car refused to shift out of first gear and would barely get above 15 mph.
