I just installed a hitch on my car and need to wire up the turn signal,stop and tail lights. I have tried,and only get tail and turn lights. When I put on the brakes all the tail lights go off. I also noticed that the turn signals are not in sequence.The car flashes,then the trailer. Not together.Do I need to get a 3 wire to 2 wire converter?I only have a white ground,brown tail ,yellow left turn signal and green right turn signal wires. Any help or a diagram of what color wire does what on the rear lights would be appreciated. Thanks

Green/black wire = reverse lights
Yellow = turn signal
Green = turn signal
Black = ground

Which one is for the brakes?Same as the turn signal? And do I splice in before the connector plug?That is what I did except for the side marker that I used for the tail lights.Thanks for the replies.

the light green at the rear of the car under the trunk to the right. i folled the wire from the reverse lights and that was the only light green wire. but when i tapped into it, it didnt work.

This thread looks like a train (or trailer) wreck waiting to happen...You don't find a brake light signal for a trailer. You simply use the left and right tail lamp wires as you're replicating their functions.

Right Tail Lamp = Dark Green wire
Left Tail Lamp = Yellow wire
Parking lights = Brown/White wire

I believe these are all accessible through the harness on the right side of the trunk.

Ground = Run a bolt into the body of the car and make your own rather than tapping into another wire.

On the trailer harness...

White = Ground
Green = Right Tail Lamp
Yellow = Left Tail Lamp
Brown = Parking lights
(as you can see, for the most part, the wire colors are pretty much the same).

What I did with mine is measured everything out, put it in wire loom, and ran it to the outside of the vehicle. It exits the car through one of the grommets where the wiring for the license plate lights exits the body of the car. It normally sits bundled up inside the trunk, and I run it out when I need it. Otherwise the body is all sealed up as normal.
