Long story, I'll let him, sabrewings, castylin, or tstevens tell it
Basic story... Tuning in a parking lot can = epic fail
On saturday night sabre tried to load a DHP file on to LSX's car which realy shouldnt have been an issue... well it turned out all wrong, IMO the battery feIl below the nessary voltage and the PCM bricked/lock/crashed/$hitted/what ever you want to call it. When i arrived sabre was already tunning but the doors where open, the headlights where on and his amp was still hooked up... on a normal car this may have not been an issue but thats a lot of extra draw that could have been avoided but it was too late. Me and ted went to try to salvage it sunday morning out side in 100*+ heat but after hours and no luck we gave in to the idea that it was toast and would have to wait tell tommorrow (which is today) to find a new PCM.
I took half the day off work (worked 6:30am to 11:30)... most of the time at work was basicly looking for answers and making calls to find PCMs with the same service code... LSX found a place that had some for $30 ($20 part cost + $10 core) we drove out there and picked up two, one to install his car and one for the core when he get a shelf tune (or to be considered a an extra if we bricked the replacement like the first one)
About 2 hours ago i swap in the new PCM and it starts and dies... likely becuase it still had the orginal VIN... but that was good news a start is better then 0 like we where getting before, About 15 minutes ago we got it to start 3 time in a row, i danced the jig and then we connected all the drawing items back and LSX took off on his way back home (15 hour drive)...
It was an experance but i all worked out so I'm happy and I'm sure LSX is as well
