I've heard some stories recently of emission testing coming to FL. Anyone down here heard of this?

You mean emissions testing coming back to Florida. I've heard the rumors too, but they have been dismissed. I don't see Florida making that mistake again.

I can't speak for Florida, but Tennessee's emissions testing is ridiculous. It's only required if you live in Nashville and its surrounding counties or Memphis... it's operated by a third party that will do anything to screw you into paying them more than once.

Plus its nearly guaranteed that you will waste a full afternoon idling in the queue at the testing station... and I need to get mine done soon.

I'm not sure how it is in NYC and Westchester County (it's different there, i think)...but in Upstate & WNY, we only have visual emissions inspections, and there can be no CEL. If there is a CEL, it needs to be fixed. In NYC, I believe they get their pipes sniffed. Laughing

Because (in Florida) there was no exemption for new cars, vehicles older than 1986 were exempt and the pipe sniffers were independent, not State run. It was a complete cluster ****.

Better hope not. Cali's emission testing is very strict.

In Ontario it's private but the shops have to be certified to do the testing. To do a visual and exhaust check, takes about 25 minutes.

Not sure how you can spend all day plugging in, scanning (5 minutes), rolling underneath to look for modifications (5 minutes), and plugging the sniffer into the car (10-15 minutes). I drop mine off at Canadian Tire and wander around the store for 20 minutes.

BTW, dual exhaust Cool

If you're not a dick, and your car fails, they only test one exhaust.

EDIT: Cali is probably hardcore because of the air quality problems they're notorious for. Given that Florida is basically a peninsula, I don't see air pollution being a huge problem.
