Help i bought a 04 9c1 car it didnt come with the fobs for the keyless entry so I bought a new one for it but the factory radio doesn't have a setting for the fob. What do i have to do to get the fobs programmed? Will putting an up graded radio from a better model work? Any help would be appricated.I'm under the impression that keyless entry was stand equipment on all models of 04. Thanks

Maybe it's not on the 9c1's that's always a possibility. I mean have you ever seen a cop using a key fob on a police car I always see them using the key to unlock.

Didn't think the 9C1 came with them.

The 9C1's do not come with the RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) module. It can be added, but you will need the RKE module and a new BCM as well (the BCM can only be programmed once, and it needs to be programmed to have RKE enabled).

Cheaper to get an aftermarket alarm system...

Frank hit the naill on the head....

I added RKE to my '05 9c1. Had to add the RKE receiver in the dash and run power, ground and class 2 data to the BCM. I got the two fobs and the receiver as part of the wrecked car I bought. Since I added every option in the book to my 9c1 I went ahead and got the BCM and programmed it for every available option, even the traction control.

If you go with after market you could even get the benefit of remote start and the alarm.....
