Well Will @ Overkill motorsports finished tuning my Impala last Wednesday. The main reason for the re-tune was to fix a bogging issue I've been having on cold start-ups but I also asked if he could look into improving the mileage.

For those that don't know I was the first 3.4 car he tuned, and a lot of the work he put into my car were used in his 3.4 tunes.

My previous tune was designed for use with 91 octane the new one is 87 octane and surprisingly the top end power is still there but there is a noticeable loss at low end WOT.

On to the good part, regularly I would net around 450km's/tank roughly 280miles/tank. That consists of mixed city/highway almost 50/50. With the same driving habits and 50/50 city/highway split I'm netting in at 740km's/tank which is 450miles/tank.

This is a huge improvement and I'm really happy how the car drives for a daily driver and its very nice to not see the gas gauge move from the full line for 80 miles.

If you're looking for a good tune for your 3.4 look no further give Will @ overkill a shout, he does great work.

He can't. The software he uses is proprietary.

Those are some pretty good mileage numbers. I've been tuning my 3400 and I'm currently seeing about 330-350 all city and about 425 with mixed driving. I just started getting into spark advance too. So far I've got 2* over stock. I tuned with 93 because I had some pretty bad knock in cruise when running 87. The car car feels so much better. I should have a video up soon.

I think it's awesome that he now has the tune so that it can be edited with hptuners.

Is this city or highway? Because I'm already getting that on the highway.

how hard would it be to put in a switch in the dash to revert to the high performence tune? ive been tossing around the idea of getting overkilled as well and i would love to get 450 a tank, but i would want to have the performence too when i need it.
