What wire do the instructions for the tach say to tap into? I don't think anyone here as an aftermarket tach (most people just switch to an upgraded cluster with the tach in it, myself included), so the information would be helpful to help us figure out exactly what wire you would need.

Also, what year and engine do you have?

There are a few places you can tap into. The best place would be the tach lead at the instrument panel harness, but if you can't get to that, your next option is at the ICM (ignition control module) at the tach output.

There is no tach wire on the cluster.... it's done thru Class-2

The only place to get the signal is pin E (white) on the Ignition Control Module (under the coil packs)...

There are 2 white wires on the ICM connector... it's not PIN A (the first pin), it's pin E, the 5th pin

You should connect that to a switched lighting source in the car. That way you don't burn out the lighting prematurely by being on constantly.
