I got a problem with my driver side heated seat (passenger side works) It worked fine this morning but stopped working this afternoon. Is there a fuse/relay/breaker or something for it? Does it have a temp sensor? sometimes on extended trips ill have it on and it gets hot then cools down then gets hot again kinda like its regulating temperature. Are there any kind of connectors under the seat i should check for tightness? if worse comes to worse can i just swap heating elements with the passenger seat?
Check the fuse, it may have blown. If not then you need to do some more testing of the circuit to find the problem. without electrical experience thought i dont think you would get too far. All you really need is a DVOM though.
As for swapping, no you cant. The heated seat element is sewn into the seat so it cant be removed
If the fuse has blown wouldn't the passenger seat quit working too?
Im pretty electrically inclined so i can do some things i don't however have a good multimeter just basic (on my x-mas list 8) ) What am i gonna be checking for?
My mom is a sewing god so would it be possible to remove it and sew it back on?

How many fuses are there, one per seat? any relays?
What kind of testing?
Im leaning towards an electrical issue, not blown elements. it seems pretty strange that both elements in the driver seat would go at the exact same time.....Then again my luck is awesome like that.....
well i did some research....i found a kit from pfyc to add heatedseats to your car. They make them for the Impala and only cost $125 for the dual temp.
I was thinking i can just swap the elements and wire it up to the stock switch...sound reasonable?
and that would figure that there is only a fuse for the passenger side! LOL
See my previous post. There is a fuse for both.

You could do it, but its questionable on if the current draw by the aftermarket and OEM match. I've been looking at those for my car, but I'm not sure I trust the whole thing. Also, I have cloth... Although they say it works for cloth.

Still Imp'n, just with a different Imp.
Do you have power to the fuse? Check for 12v across the terminals in the fuse box, with the fuse pulled obviously. Aside from that, check for voltage at the switch, and possibly check for 12v at the harness under the seat. It is a possibility that the harness could have come unplugged.

I think i need to get myself a service manual with a wiring diagram (or if anybody has a link to one...hint hint, nudge nudge ) so i can see how the elements are wired up and a half way decent multi meter. If its not cold out this weekend ill fool around with it.
