it is my fathers car it is also our project we are trying to track down what kind of motor this car was supposed to have in it originally and what options it was supposed to have before it was modified the vin is 168376r236838 the cowl tag codes are
style: 66-61837
trim 885? or 855? hard to read its been painted over and havent tried to bring the embossed letters up yet
acc bt10818?? yet again painted over kinda heavy
m35

and the motor has t0912ed 4xc stamped on it
and 36385 is on the cowl tag as well up next to where it says style
any information would be helpfull

i already knew its an 1966 impala super sport i am trying to track the option numbers to see what it had in it originally its got a stroker 468 in it built off of a 396 and im trying to find out if its original to the car or not because a 396 was an option on this car

Sometimes, if you get a decent person at the DMV, they can help you tracing the title through past owners. Lots of "if's" here & of course they'll charge you something if they can, but worth a shot. You should be able to trace the original engine size through the VIN with a basic internet search. Talking out of my, arse, but most seem like they were 396's.

I'm a small block guy so getting 468 cubes from a small bore 396 block (4.09ish bore right?) isnt normal. 468 is usually just a .030 overbore on a 454. Look at your numbers. Not the point, just saying. Like I said, I'm a small block guy.

Mortec used to have tons of casting numbers listed. http://www.mortec.com/cranks.htm

Awesome looking car, you need to throw up some pics of that black beast! Are you going to Woodward or the GR Metro Cruise this year?

the problem with his vin it only says its a ss v8. i have no ideal what the body tags mean thats why i posted that book
