Traded it in for my new 2011 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab SV V6. I removed some of the aftermarket parts prior to trading it in, but some things (like the Vogtlands and AGXs) left with her. Sad I love my new truck, and right now we still have the wife's 03 Grand Prix GT, but I am putting up my aftermarket stuff up for sale since we'll most likely be trading hers in next summer after its paid off. I'll miss the car, the gas mileage, and the memories, but I put on 5,000 miles on the Impala over the last month, and its been acting up lately. I'll still hang out here for a while, however!

Seems to me we are getting close to the point where people with decade old W-bodies are dropping like flies. Nothing like that GM quality. Laughing

I'm not too far away. One more catastrophic failure and I'm done. Right now, the floor gets soaked every time it rains, and I had over a gallon of water in my drivers door. I swear it was close to coming out of the speakers.

I don't know, I sure got my money's worth out of the car, and I hated to see it go, but around this area, a nice Impala brings the wrong kind of attention from some of the low-lifes and police around here. A truck better fits my personality and need, and the price could not be beat for what I bought the truck for! USAA car buying service FTW!!!

As far as the wife's GPGT, it has been a piece of crap from day one. I regret buying it, but since we are still paying on it, it was more beneficial to trade mine in first. Plus, hers doesn't have the constant "Service Traction System" and front end "clunks" that mine's had since I've owned the Impala. 42,000 miles on the Impala in 2.5 years, including 3x,xxx hard driven miles in Germany isn't too bad. I think at 143,000 miles, though... the transmission was FINALLY starting to give out.

The w-bodies are great cars for younger drivers/college vehicles. Safe, slow, good gas mileage. Good stepping stones.
Nice truck.

Same here, when the transmission goes, so does the car; unfortunately.

Oh, I'm going strong too. I absolutely love my car. Everything drivetrain wise is running topnotch even at almost 119k miles, but when the time comes when I either get a rodknock or the transmission goes, that's when I'll have to part with her. I'm hoping to get another 50k hassle free miles out of her. :/

my car is still going strong as well. Occasionally we have the "more money now" conversation, but overall she is doing great. I probably should have sent her packing 2 years ago, but I needed a reliable car for 2 years. I spent a ton of money on her at the dealership, including a rebuilt transmission, seals, etc. It is nice not having car payments.

I don't think I will ever get rid of her, now that I have most of the tools to work on her, i can just work on it a little at a time and work on it myself. She handled like a brand new car after i got all the bushings swapped out. It was great.

i would like to do a little air conditioning work on her (or at least i expect i will need too soon) but the clearances make me a little nervous.

As for the water leak one gentleman had. I had that when I had my windshield replaced. I basically smothered the entire outside winshield with winsheild sealant. The leaks have stopped. It looks a little crappy around the edges, but it doesn't leak. i was almost to the point of drilling a hole in the floor to let the water have a place to run out. I also replaced the plastic cowling (both parts) as well, just to be safe. Definately worth the headache to not have to worry about a wet car. I almost miss the days of keeping a bucket in my passenger side, and having to squeegee the carpets with a rubbermaid container. NOT.
