So ever since the old engine that threw a piston i have had 3 codes. Took care of the first 2 and now i'm left with a P0449 code. It is an evap vent valve solenoid so i went to the dealership and got the part thanks to this thread http://www.naioa.com/v2/module.....p+solenoid and eBay. What else could the code mean?

This is the right part correct??? I also know its located behind the gas cap and how do i replace it?

Pull the wheel and the fenderwell. It'll be right there.

No. But I've had the ass end of my car disassembled enough time to know how to get to it. Laughing

Could still be a bad gas cap.

Should i try replacing the gas cap and try deleting the code again to see if it works?

I would. Worst case scenario you are out 20 bucks and have new gas cap.

P0449 isn't a gas cap issue (it's not even a leak issue)

P0449 indicates that the commanded state of the evap solenoid and the actual state do not match. If you replaced the solenoid and you are still having the code, then you need to check the wiring (either an open or a short)

Okay. I'm going to let the dealership handle that one. They scheduled me to come in this Friday.

Aww... yeah. I was thinking P0440, evap leak. P0449 is vent solenoid specific. You don't think they shut off the vent solenoid control when you had you PCM flashed for the top swap do you?
