I got up today, my car was dead.
No remote start, locks or trunk, had to use the key for the first time since I bought it.
Tried the ignition, key wouldn't come out, wound up getting a ride to school.
We came back tried to jump it, power came on, and got
"Starting Disabled Service Throttle"
She wouldn't do anything else.
Took out the key, and disconnected jumpers, and she died again immediately.
I know she wouldn't want to live this way, hooked up to jumpers and monitors, so do I just take her out back and shoot her?
Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a computer/ security issue to me, but I don't know a whole lot about the 06+ Imp's electronics.

After you get the battery replaced/fully charged... if it still happens, I believe it's a problem in the drive by wire system

When we tried to jump start it, all the electrical systems came up, it just wouldn't start.
Since I don't want to run out and replace my battery if I can just charge it, do you think if I used one of those plug in charger things I might get a better result, or same as jumping?
I really hope it's nothing major. I just bounced my rent check and I just can't get ahead on bills right now. IRS needs to hurry up with my money!

I would put a charger on it... jumping may not work

If it won't take a charge, it's time for a battery

Having had a battery go bad, I gotta say it seems like you've got bigger issues here. The service throttle concerns me.

How did you get a "starting disabled, service throttle" message? through a scanner, the dash, or some other way? I'm not sure how much variety there is with the in-dash displays for trouble lights and codes on the 06+.

If you haven't had it scanned... you should. Maybe it'll turn something up.

Still might be beneficial to see the actual power train trouble code.

Can anyone recommend a good battery for me.
I only have a mid-grade set of subs hooked up with a cheap amp, so I don't need anything crazy, but not something that's just cheap either.

What's "cheap" to you? Is optima out of the question? Not sure what they run, exactly, but IIRC they're just over $100 (?) for the low-level batteries.

When I replace mine I'm going Red-Top Optima, since I need the amps for cold starts.

If you let the stereo run with the car off, you should get an Optima Yellow top.
